Feeding your Fire

I want to touch on a subject Joseph Campbell talks about in his Mythos Series.
In India, the Brahman Priest feeds, to the fire, a sacrifice. The fire, being the mouth of the Gods. Canobell compares this to humans eating. When we eat, we are consuming food with our internal fire. That food, be it animal, or plant, is killed to sustain our life. It is a sacrifice to ourselves. Even, when looking at this scientifically, we find that human burn up energy and need to replenish it with calories and proteins.

"The world is an ever burning fire of sacrifice. Into, which, an inexhaustible sacrifice is being poured, and that is the nature of life. "-Joseph Campbell

What I get out of this, besides the fact, that the body's fire is the Microcosm of the sacrificial fire, or what the Brahman calls, the mouth of the Gods, is that we should be thinking more about what we "sacrifice" to the fire inside us, or the Gods/Spirit inside us. This connects to the organic food craze. People are waking up and realizing that what they used to put in their bodies is just not good! If  God/Spirit/Essence is In you, why are you throwing, into your sacrificial fire, some processed garbage? Feed your fire plants that came from light and foods made through goodness. Natural sustenance is needed by your internal flame, it lives off of it.

So, accept the natural. Work with it, not against it. Be one with the inner and outer fire of life!
